Receiving payments
Can I send a different currency to my receiving details?
Why receiving instructions must match the currency, rail and payer flow.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Only send the currency and payment type specified in the active instructions. Do not assume a different currency will be converted or credited automatically.

Before the payment
If a payer wants to send a different currency, first check whether you have approved receiving instructions for it. If not, ask Ostro about availability before arranging the transfer.
A bank allowing a transfer to be entered does not confirm that the receiving route supports it.
Receiving currencies and payout currencies differ
Ostro’s six core fiat receiving flows are USD, EUR, GBP, BRL, MXN and COP, where enabled. Local payout coverage through partners can extend to 100+ fiat currencies. That broader payout coverage does not provide receiving details for every one of those currencies.
If the payment has already been sent
Keep the bank confirmation and contact Ostro with the actual currency, amount, rail and destination used. The payment may need investigation or return. Automatic conversion, crediting or recovery is not guaranteed.
Before trying again
Wait for a clear outcome on the original payment. Use only the receiving instructions shown for the supported route, and confirm any needed currency conversion through the available payment process.
