Before using SPEI
MXN route support depends on customer eligibility, payer type and partner activation. Current partner guidance excludes EU customers from this route.
A supported country listing is an initial reference; it is not confirmation that MXN receiving instructions have been issued or that a particular payment amount is approved.
Receiving or funding in MXN
- Use the beneficiary and CLABE supplied in your workspace, along with any required reference.
- Ask the payer to select the supported domestic SPEI method in MXN.
- Check any limits that apply to funding from your own account or to the sender type.
- Keep the sender’s receipt and track the payment in Ostro.
Copy the full CLABE rather than shortening it to match a different bank-account field. If the sender’s bank rejects the instructions, do not substitute another account or transfer type.
SPEI timing
The rail operates around the clock, but bank or partner maintenance and payment review can delay processing. The timing reference is an estimate for a supported route, not a promise of immediate availability.
Paying out in MXN
Where offered, select a verified supported Mexican bank destination. Confirm the beneficiary identity and CLABE, then review any conversion and charges before proceeding. Local payout access does not mean the same destination can be used for every receiving flow.
Tracking a delayed payment
Ask the sending bank for its SPEI tracking key and receipt, where available. Include the amount, date, timezone and the status shown by the sender. Ostro can use that information to investigate the route.
If bank details were incorrect, contact support promptly. Do not rely on a payment being automatically reversed; tracing and recovery depend on the circumstances.
